This is the first time I have published my own story on the website and this goes back to some bad experiences with British Airways in 2007. We vowed never to fly British Airways and never to go through Heathrow airport ever again.

I'm happy to report that even though we've flown every year since 2007, we have stuck to our promise. We have experienced great service on Emirates, Aegean Airlines, Virgin, Air Asia, Pacific Blue and Jetstar and we've never had a delayed flight or a lost bag!

Happy travelling!

British Airways 'worst airline for baggage problems'

A recent survey of 2,007 airline passengers by insurance company LV claims UK passengers travelling with major airlines experience the most baggage problems when they fly with British Airways. Apparently one in 3.8 British Airways passengers have had their baggage lost, damaged, or delayed in the past five years.

This is more than twice as many as the next worst performing airline, Virgin Atlantic where one in 8.3 Virgin passengers reported experiencing baggage problems.

British Airways seem to be in denial, claiming the figure is "complete rubbish" and  that, "there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that a quarter of BA passengers have experienced lost or delayed baggage over the last five years."

British Airways Worst to UK

According to a Choice consumer survey, Australians rated British Airways the worst airline when flying from Australia to the UK. Ratings were compiled from 10 categories including cost, in-flight food, in-flight service, timeliness and baggage allowance. Travellers were asked to score airlines out of 100 and British Airways only scored 57. Singapore Airlines had the best score with 81 out of 100.

Some airlines "just don't get it", one traveller noted, and should travel on Singapore Airlines "to see how it is done".

British Airways Second Worst in Europe for Lost Luggage

British Airways has one of the worst track records When it comes to losing luggage. According to an article in the Independent from February 2008, "British Airways lost more baggage per flight last year than almost any other airline in Europe."

Figures for 2007 released by the Air Transport Users Council show that British Airways delayed 26.5 bags per 1,000 compared to a European-wide average of 16.6 bags. The only airline in Europe with a worse track record was TAP Air Portugal (27.8 delayed bags per 1,000).

The article further states that British Airways record is getting worse with an additional 3.5 bags lost per 1,000 in 2007 compared to the previous year.
