Have you been abused by British Airways?

Legal Advice

British Airways Fined over Dodgy Advertising

british-airways-finedBritish Airways failed to disclose all the relevant fees associated with their fares and has been fined $125,000 by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. They could be fined up to $250,000 if there are any more rule violations within the next year.

Apparently fees such as government taxes and fuel surcharges were not included in the advertised fares and should have been.

BA were also reprimanded for "a policy of not compensating passengers whose cash, jewelry or electronics in checked bags were lost, stolen or damaged" in contravention of an international airline treaty.

From personal experience, I am aware BA makes it very hard to claim compensation, but I had no idea it was enshrined in a policy document!

"Thiefrow" Airport

sunglassesMy own experience of Heathrow airport is so bad I have vowed to never fly through Heathrow again.

The latest Heathrow victim is celebrity Kim Kardashian who has accused baggage handlers of removing a pair of sunglasses from her bag.

Apparently pilfering was so bad at one stage that the airport earned the dubious title of "Thiefrow".

More Comedy from British Airways

I was under the impression that most folks these days know better than to joke about bombs or terrorists especially when air travel is involved.

I'm not sure what Mathew Davis, a British Airways steward, was thinking when he wrote, “The bomb on board will explode at 16.00 GMT unless our demands are met" on the back of a toilet door during a recent flight from Tokyo to London.

British airways have also failed to see the funny side of this and he has apparently been suspended.

Mr Davis was arrested after the plane touched down. He has been charged and will appear later this month in court.

Great Crash Joke (not!)

During a recent BA flight from Miami to Heathrow, passengers were treated to a recorded announcement explaining the plane was about to crash. Just for fun, it was played a second time! Passengers didn't see the joke and were apparently screaming in fear of their lives.

A short time later, an announcement instructed passengers to ignore the warning as it had been mistakenly aired.

Just in case passengers didn't appreciate the joke, they were issued with written apologies as they left the plane.

Apparenly there was a similar inclident on another BA flight from Heathrow to Hong Kong last year.

To maximise the effect of the prank, maybe BA should screen an airline disaster movie before these announcements!
